Peace through Law Online – Roundtable

As of 30 September 2026.

The Roundtable is a small international reading circle of lawyers and legal scholars around the texts collected on this site. It is modelled on a reading group: participants read one text closely and discuss how it is worded, how it is interpreted and how it is applied.

Format

  • Online, in English, every six to eight weeks, 60–90 minutes
  • Method: a short input by one participant (10–15 minutes), then a close reading of one text, article by article, or a discussion of a recent development recorded in the change log
  • Chatham House rule: participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker may be revealed
  • No positions: the circle reads and discusses texts; it does not adopt statements or recommendations
  • Notes: with the consent of the participants, a short unattributed note of each session is published on this page

Texts for the first sessions

  1. UN Convention against Cybercrime (2024) – scope, safeguards and the relationship to the Budapest Convention
  2. National positions on international law in cyberspace – where States agree and where they differ
  3. International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966), Article 20(1) – propaganda for war, read together with Article 19

Sessions

Dates will be announced on this page.

Participation

Participation is by invitation and on request. Lawyers and legal scholars interested in joining or in giving an input are invited to contact the editor (see contact).
