Peace through Law Online – Roundtable
As of 1 October 2026.
The Roundtable is a small international discussion forum of lawyers and legal scholars. It takes up current developments recorded on this site – a new treaty signature or ratification, a court decision, a resolution, a regulatory measure or a newly identified gap – and discusses their legal significance for peace and conflict in the cyber and information sphere.
Format
- Online, in English, every six to eight weeks, 60–90 minutes
- Method: one or two short inputs (10–15 minutes each) on a recent development, followed by an open discussion; the relevant entry on this site serves as the common point of reference
- Topics: chosen from the change log and from proposals by participants
- Chatham House rule: participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker may be revealed
- No positions: the Roundtable discusses developments; it does not adopt statements or recommendations
- Notes: with the consent of the participants, a short unattributed note of each session may be published on this page
Possible topics for the first sessions
- The UN Convention against Cybercrime (2024) after the signature period – ratifications, safeguards and the relationship to the Budapest Convention
- Autonomous weapons after the Seventh CCW Review Conference (November 2026) – see UN and CCW processes on autonomous weapons and Gap: treaty on autonomous weapons systems
- Sanctions as a response to information manipulation – the EU sanctions regime on Russia's destabilising activities and freedom of expression (ICCPR, Articles 19 and 20)
Sessions
Dates will be announced on this page.
